The mainstem Nehalem is finally in “prime” condition, and should fish well all week. The rain this week might add a little color, but shouldn’t be enough to blow it out. There are no hatchery releases on the Nehalem mainstem, but there should be wild steelhead throughout the system.

The North fork has been slow, and effort has been light. The hatchery run is over, but there are wild fish available for catch-and-release. Conditions are low and clear this week, and will probably remain so though it may get a little freshet over the weekend.

Please remember to handle and release wild fish with care! There are some great resources available in the regulation book (page 15) and on the ODFW website.
