A large section of the river is closed due to fire and it is impacting fishing as well. Please be respectful of the closure around tributaries.
Chinook season closed on July 1.
The North Umpqua is about as warm as it has ever been. With elevated temperatures please fish in the morning before the water warms for the day. When anglers catch summer Steelhead or other salmonids, they should bring them in quickly and release them in the same manner.
Some of the North Umpqua and tributaries are open for trout (those above Slide Creek Dam). Check the fishing regulations to see which areas are open and bag limits.
Note that as of Oct 1, fishing in the fly water area is restricted to the use of a single, barbless, unweighted, artificial fly.
