The park remains closed to visitors and fisherman alike during the weekdays. We are still open on weekends. We will re-open for weekday fishing starting Monday December 13th. Less than a month to go until the start of trout season Saturday December 11th.
Fall is a good time for catching large catfish. Taylor Oshinski of Valley Center caught & released a 28.80# catfish Sunday which he caught in the middle of the lake presumably on cut mackerel. Lake Wohlford cats are most frequently caught using chicken liver, shrimp, or cut mackerel.
Mostly small to medium sized bass being caught. Largemouth Bass can be found lingering around structure. The bass respond well to dark colored plastics, crawdads, and crank-baits.
Crappie fishing has been slow. Crappie prefer the cover of shade and are most often caught using finger jigs or live golden shiners.
