Recent sampling indicated trout densities are around 2,600 fish per mile from the dam downstream to the power lines. Relatively high densities of trout persist downstream from the dam for about the next six or seven miles. Below that, densities are lower but there are portions of the lower canyon that hold high numbers of trout.
Rainbow trout will typically be associated with riffle type habitats and are more common in the two miles of river below the dam. Brown trout use just about every type of habitat available and can be found in high densities in riffles, runs, pools and glides.
Fly-anglers are having some success using hopper patterns, small midge nymphs and streamers
