Castaic Lake remained near 33 percent of capacity, and water temperatures held in the mid to low seventies. Anglers reported a tougher biter overall, and the lake seems to be going through a transitional period. Bass moved offshore, and they can be located on points, bluffs, and underwater humps in 15 to 25 feet of water. Finesse baits like drop shot, Carolina rigs, and small jigs have been getting grabs from large and smallmouth. Shad imitation swimbaits drug along the bottom have been a good alternative as well. The stripper boils diminished, and anglers followed the striper into deeper water near the Forebay buoy line with cut sardines and lugworms. Catfishing has been good for anglers throwing Carolina rigged cut baits and dip bait.
