Fall Chinook fishing should improve this weekend

Fall Chinook fishing should improve this weekend and into next week with the forecasted rain events. Most of the fishing has been below the hatchery but fish will be distributed throughout the system after the big rain events.

Trout fishing in streams closed on Oct. 31 and will reopen on May 22

Santiam River (South Fork): Currently flows are around 1,500 cfs at the Waterloo gauge as of Nov 1
Walter Wirth Lake: Stocked for the first time this fall
Alsea River: Fall Chinook fishing should improve this weekend
Kilchis River: The Kilchis will be open for retention of hatchery salmon but will be closed to wild Chinook
Necanicum River: Fall Chinook are available in the Necanicum basin
Nehalem River: Salmon fishing on Nehalem Bay has really dropped off the past week

Nestucca River: The majority of the fall Chinook should be in the river at this point and throughout the fishery
