Castaic Lake held near 34 percent of capacity, and water temperatures fell into the upper sixties. Fishing has been decent with anglers adjusting to the winter season. Bass anglers found biting fish in 5 to 25 feet of water with a mix of techniques getting bites. Drop shot, Ned rigs, and C-rigs have been the most reliable way to get bit, but crankbaits and small swimbaits also worked for a few fish. Anglers reported both striper and bass falling for vertical spoons in deeper water. Striper anglers focused their efforts in the back of the ski arm, and they soaked cut baits in 30 to 90 feet of water for bites. Trout anglers picked away at the remaining trout in the marina on Powerbait, minijigs, and redworms, and catfish ate chicken liver and dip bait on the dam.
