Anglers will find sea-run cutthroat trout throughout the Trask

The Trask River from 200 ft above and 900 ft below Gold Creek at Trask Hatchery (this includes the “hatchery hole”) is closed to fishing July 16 to Oct. 15.
The Dam Hole (Mile Post 7 on Trask River Road up to Blue Ridge Creek) will close to all fishing Sept. 1 through Nov. 30.
Anglers will find sea-run cutthroat trout throughout the Trask, and in both the North and South Forks. Resting pool surveys observed decent numbers throughout the river basin. Check the regulations for open areas and bait restrictions.
Fall Chinook opened in the Trask on Aug. 1, but the vast majority of the fish are still in the Bay and tidewater and most likely will be until the Fall rains come.
The Trask River is also open to hatchery coho and does get a hatchery run. A few fish have moved up the river, and good numbers are expected to move with the coming storm dropping enough rain to raise the river level. Look for fish to be spread out and moving up to the hatchery. Spinners, jigs or bait fished in the deeper holes and slots should be productive as the fish are more aggressive when migrating.
