Summer steelhead fishing on the Wilson has been slow this year, but there are some fish available, particularly in the upper river. Normally September can be a good month to target these fish as water temperatures start to drop, swimming pressure lets up, and fish that have been holding get more active. But with the low numbers it’s probably still going to be tough fishing. For those still wanting to target these fish; covering lots of water will probably be the key to success. Rain will get these fish more active too.

Cutthroat trout fishing is open in the Wilson River as well. Good numbers of fish are available throughout the river.

Fall Chinook opened in the Wilson on Aug. 1, but the fishing is slow and there probably won’t be much happening above tidewater until we get some rain later in the fall.
