Hyatt has already seen its likely peak water level for the year and is now dropping daily due to irrigation withdrawals. The reservoir is currently at 3,254 acre feet. Don’t expect much of anything for trout as last year’s low, warm water put a significant hurt on the trout. With the extremely low water, it was not stocked in the fall either. There should be a few bass still around, but they too were impacted by the extremely low and warm reservoir levels the last 2 years. There is very little pressure but there is, as always, scenic views on clear days. No legal trout are planned for stocking this year.
Hyatt lake resort, store and restaurant are open. This is a great place to swing by and grab a bite to eat for mountain visitors.
The BLM campgrounds open May 28, and campgrounds can be reserved at Recreation.gov.
There is a Hwy 66 and Hyatt Lake Rd webcam that may help you if you are planning a trip. Also, ODOT trip check is worth looking at.
